INTRODUCTION
Udhagamandalam (Ooty) town nestled at an altitude of 2240mts above mean sea level with an area of 30.36 sq.km and 88422 population is located in the Nilgiris District of Tamil Nadu. Ooty is the queen of hill stations in India and invites tourists throughout the year from all the corners of the country and abroad. Tourism industry, though has become a proud mainstay of the economy of the town, it has also threatened dangerously the fragile eco system of the hills. Sustainable tourism with adequate infrastructure has become a impending desideratum.

THE PROMENADE
The entire Promenade stretch is designed in such a way that the place is put to its maximum use. A footpath is provided . The promenade includes lushly landscaped shady areas and paved areas for people to stroll or jog, as well as for the staging of events.
The stretch of Promenade boasts a number of unique design features such as walkways, tree courts, amphi-theatres, seating, Padithurai connecting to the river are proposed & aesthetic elements like pergolas, dwarf walls, mural walls are interspersed which enhances the promenade stretch & the imaginability of the entire stretch is magnified in totality.

THE HERITAGE BUS STAND
• Three bus parking bays have been proposed to accommodate 70 buses
• A car park is designed for nearly 500 cars.
• other amenities like Dormitory,ATM,restaurents,Drivers restroom etc are also provided.
• The Architectural style blendswith the character of the monumental buildings in the Ooty range.

MARKET PLAAZA
- Tha market plaza is located at the center of the town,covering an area of 5.3 acres and 1330 shops which is not being put to use the way it should because most of the built structure has been dilaptated.
- There is a need to enhance the aesthetic & the functional quality of the existing market plaza by proving more shops(Open & semi open) ,seating areas intergrating everything together by walkways,corridors & footover bridge.
FOOT OVER BRIDGE
In order to avoid the road crossing for the pedestrians from the promenade, A foot over bridge is designed which connects the promenade and the market space
RELOCATION OF THE CARPARK
- There is no defined parking space near the promenade. The fisheries land is a huge chunk of land with no maintenance.
- Hence this fisheries land is proposed for parking.
- The parking can accommodate 400 cars, 15 buses and 300 two wheelers.
