A Fresh Endeavour to Beautify the Banks of Three Canals Flowing Through The Heart of Alappuzha

Significance of Beautifying the Canals

Now as the city developed into a major tourism hub for houseboats and related tourism activities, the canal got a lifeline. Tourism department along with the use of central and state govt. funds rejuvenated the canals of Alappuzha at a cost of Rs.12.5 crores.
The canal beautification project includes ;

– Landscaping and walkways

– Ornamental lighting and sculptures along the canal banks

The project is aimed to bring back the glory of “Venice of East” again before the world.
The project already became one of the most prestigious projects tourism department has ever undertaken.

It has already became the most sought after project by public and medias.

Scope of Project

The project is covering the three main canals flowing through the heart of Alappuzha town which extends to a total of 6.5 kilometers.

The tourist will be given ear phones on entry in to the boat which will give you multilingual commentary of what they see around when they move
